Need advice
Need advice Hey everybody I am trying to get feedback on different states that I would like to move my family too... I hate ******* Cali and want to leave this **** hole. Can you guys give me some info on good areas to live in your state as well the cost of living too please??? Oh and I am looking into maybe staying in my line of work which is Loss Prevention but would really want to be a police officer. Any help would be great

One major good thing about IL is the ease of which you can beat the emissions test. No visual, no sniff. Custom tuning will allow anything to pass, and many counties don't have testing at all. '95 and older cars are completely exempt. We do not have any of the "vehicle safety inspections" that some other states have either. State income tax is low (3%) at the moment, but sure to go up now that the election is over.
Other than that, the weather sucks at least 4-5 months of the year, and Chicago politics screw up what would otherwise be a perfectly fine state. If you are into guns, this is not a great place to live (it's worse than CA), no CC permits. Traffic anywhere around Chicago is very bad, maybe not as bad as places like LA, but our expressways generally have less lanes than SoCal so it seems just as bad overall.
As posted above, cost of living will be very high in the Chicagoland area as compared to the rest of IL, but not as bad as CA.
If I was looking to relocate, I probably wouldn't pick IL. I'd rather go a little further south for milder winters and less liberal politics/laws. Don't get me wrong, IL and Chicago do have some very positive points, and it's certainly not the worst place to live, but above all else I'm really sick of seeing snow 4-5 months per year.

Springifeld MO is pretty nice. Ive lived here my entire life and plan to stay. You could consider it a small city but nothing like Chicago, St. Louis, or Kansas City. The cost of living is low and the people around here are very nice. Its a pretty big switch from Cali, thats for sure.

If you can stand the cold winters and humid summers, Iowa isnt too bad. No emissions testing here, low crime rate, no smog, traffic isnt terrible, no tollways, relativly low living costs, no beaches..unless saylorville counts.
