CC is in the works currently. They voted once and it missed by 6 votes, but it was put onto the next vote due to something like 20 reps stepping out early. Everyone I've talked to including officers (current and retired) and many many others are all for it. There was a debate recently in Huntley that brought to light some criminal's testimony. They were asked why they chose Chicago and the state of Illinois to commit their crimes and they responded that they didn't have to worry about getting shot cause you can't conceal and carry here. If you're from out of state make sure that you have the required paperwork from your state. If they don't require an owner card like IL make sure that the weapon isn't loaded. Period. The magazine can be full, and in the same location as the weapon as long as it is not in the weapon. If you do get stopped by someone, make sure you declare to them that you have the weapon in the car and be prepared to answer tons of questions. Most officers will not have an issue with it as long as they know about it and you're not an a$$hole.

The southern half of the state is nowhere near the hell that the northern half of the state goes through, but enjoy. They're calling for a few blizzards this winter, so it should be fun...

Its the sad truth, but these folks are right. IL sucks - we pay a ton in taxes yet still have shitty roads and schools. That's just the start of the issues. I really really wish I would have gotten into a career other than manufacturing - would have been in TN or similar years ago.

FYI, the best thing you can due is print out a copy of the transport law and carry it with you. Not all the cops know the ins and outs - like the fact you can carry the gun and loaded clip in the same compartment - as long as the gun itself is unloaded.

Do you happen to have a link to the transport law, I'd really like to read it.

Also, isn't it sad that this thread turned into a bunch of IL residents trying to warn a guy to stay away from this shithole? I know very few people who are happy with our current situation(s). If it weren't for my job I would've left years ago, and I'm not anywhere near Chicago. Downstate has its problems too, including paying for the bs that goes on north of I-80. I sure wish we would divide this state in 2 right at I-80. That would muffle most of my rants.

you guys do know you can leave at any time. your not serfs in europe during the dark ages. Illinois does have its problems but is a lot better than alot of other places. If you think our weather sucks go to Texas in the summer or Minnesota in January. I ve worked in both states and several others. i d rather be here than a lot of other places. But as gun owner our state has the gayest gun laws that is a fact

Most of my issues come from the Gun laws. We have a bunch of politicians that think they know what people want and don't or they're too busy being bought to see the real truth. I can deal with taxes, but it is a bit out of control...

illinois should change its name to chicago. lol. this state is and always will be about chicago. they dont care about us that live below 80. i live along 64 so anything south of here they really dont care about and probably doesnt think illinois even goes this far south.

dont remember who said it about the weather but the texas panhandle got snow today, have we gotten any yet?

Well, packing up to head up to you guys, got he biggest DAMN coat I can find and thick socks LOL!!! Well, if seems like carrying a hand gun is a bunch of B/S what about my AR15 what are the laws about having it in my car (something to protect me when I'm at a cell site)??

From all the post sounds like your state is screwed up just like NC is starting to do (with all the (NY,NJ,PA,VT,MA,NH,etc..) people moving in and changing our couture. But I guess that's life, things are always changing & moving around.

I'll get this thread going when I get up to Illinois-maybe some of ya'll can tell me some great places to eat in the different cities I'll be in (in the NC everything is fried & over done).

Thanks,
SR

Your AR will be no different than a hand gun. Magazine out of the weapon but can be loaded, and no round in the chamber. If you're on a remote site, I would say put the mag in, but don't charge it. It only takes half a second to do it anyway. Either way it truly depends on the officer if you're stopped. Most of the guys up here by Chicago that I know probably wouldn't say anything, but I know them and they know me. So it's really a crap shoot. As for food....Same **** different zip code....I've been to NC and it's no different than the southern half of the state (not to offend anyone). Good luck in our wonderful little state...lol

I worked between Springfield,IL and Merrillville,IN.

Illniois is not that bad of a state (as a visitor) the roads do suck though. People are friendly and the country side reminds of NC & SC. Some DAMN good looking women I must say, food about the same as southern food. I really didn't feel like I needed my 45 Sig, until I got really close to CHI-town.
Thanks for all the posts ya'll.
