Default could use some help in Indy

Folks I have dilemma on my hands.

I'm in the process of building my 408 and im checking my rod clearances via plastigage and im not getting the right numbers. This is a brand new crank and rods, both Eagle, and im coming up with .0015 or less clearance with .002 undersized bearings - nowhere near right.

Does anyone in or around indianapolis have a micrometer and bore gauge that would be willing to come by and do some measurments? I'd def pay for your help and time!

Please let me! know PM me!

any other advice is welcome as well of course

take it to a machine shop. You might need the rods resized, even when brand new.

thats what im going to do after I measure myself. This engine is kind of a boulder to lug around not to mention trying to save the $$ first by measuring.

how much are you going to save by assembling it wrong ? Always let the professionals knock out these things, especially when its not "that" much money in labor for this stuff.

It's an EAGLE crank, they always measure out on the "HIGH" side. You will need to order bearings with .001 extra clearance I bet.

yup had to do that on the mains and rods, but everything checked out ok. turns out the plastigage really was not far off.
