Default Transmission A4 rebuild

Hello All,

I have a 2001 Firebird with an automatic transmission. I recently lost 3/4 gears and want to have it rebuilt. It is like the trans goes in neutral.

That brings up my questions........

1. Who is best in Chicagoland area? I live in Lombard so proximity is important.

2. What is a parts list for 500Hp? I am not looking to have a race trans, just a decent one that will hold up for a bit.

3. Do most Trans Shops also handle rear ends? I need a pinion seal replaced.

Please help!

I would highly recommend Finish Line Trans (FLT) in Wood Dale.

Finish Line in Wood Dale HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!
I brought my 4L60e out of my 97 RS convertible 6cyl and they actually modified their stage 1 package for mine because it was going into a 6 cylinder and i could never reach the power level of their stage 1.....who does that? Kudos to those guys!
Those dudes are honest and give an excellent product.
I saw crates of finished tranny's going to Saudi Arabia and Germany when I was in there. Those guys are global

Rpm transmissions is in Indiana but they do a great job on everything I have seen. Take a look at them as well and see what fits your needs best.

RPM are heavy hitters too. Two reasons I thought of FLT and not RPM for our OP
1. he mentioned only 500hp...that isn't a lot of power so to go for the Bugatti of transmissions..not needed. FLT is a bit more economical
2. close to him (Lombard) Wood Dale is a stone throw from Lombard compared to south Indiana
you can't go wrong with either one. It would be a win/win. OP you have some EXCELLENT choices!

Can't go wrong with either RPM or FLT IMHO.

FLT is the right choice for your build.

Another vote for FLT! Their customer service is unbelievable. I have a built 4l60e with ss3600 handling 550whp/502tq like a champ, hasn't skipped a beat yet!

Only problem with FLT right now is the 3 week lead time. I shouldn't have waited.

It's worth the wait to have it done right. Plus, the shop is local.

^ Amen, a built trans from FLT is well worth the several week lead time.
