Default cold air mod questions

a few questions here guys, i'm new to trying to do these free mods myself and i don't have any experience with cars so bear with me-

has anyone done this mod?
http://www.ls1.com/link_cold_air_mod.htm

1. i have the factory grill on my car and the license plate on it from when i bought it from the dealer- how do i get the grill/plate off? it looks like there are a few rivets that are screwed to the grill...i need to reuse the grill and plate b/c i live in IL and they require a front plate (plus it is one less reason for them to pull me over)

2. the tube in the picture, where did you buy it and what size do i need?

3. has anyone that has done this mod drove the car in the winter? i'm worried about crap gettin up into the enigine compartment and filter

once again, many thanks!

i would recommend just buying the ftra or ssra. do the free ram air mod, but don't waste your time on that "cold air" mod

I think you'd be better off buying a cold air induction kit rather than fabricating your own. I did the free ram air mod before buying my cold air induction kit, and you'll end up doing that free mod anyway in order to install the unit.......at least the SLP version.
