Default Loud Exhaust Ticket!

I just got pulled over for speeding and loud exhaust...pacesetters, offroad y-pipe and hooker catback and TR224 on 112LSA. The cop was cool and let me go with just the loud exhaust and no speeding ticket. He did, however, tell me I need to fix my exhaust. He is a local cop by my house and said he will see me around. I am the only Silver WS6 with black wheels so I'm pretty obvious.

How can I quiet my exhaust down? Cats?

Cats would help... Otherwise, go with the stock WS6 muffler, as that is totally legal (stock muffler can't get a ticket!). Have whatever exhaust tips you want to use welded on too. Then just put on a cutout somewhere in the intermediate pipe for when you want/need to bypass it. Probably cheaper than having cats put in...

first off, you DO NOT have to quiet down your exhaust per your ticket, but if you don't you might get another one.

second, cats will quiet it down a bit and staying in a lower RPM will also help. other then that, good luck!

Thanks, I really don't even want to touch it, but I might try some cats.

I parked next to a cop at a local convenience shop last summer. I was running open headers on a cam only car. The cop walked over to me and "did you know mufflers are required in the state of Missouri?"
I told him I was on my way to the muffler shop! LOL (that was a lie in case you couldn't tell)

Ha! I've been followed by many cops, and have been stopped in traffic next to them many times with my car. This was the first cop that ever said anything about my exhaust. It might have been because he caught me going from 1st to 3rd full throttle on a 45mph road.

Staying at half-throttle or less, and low rpms, should make any exhaust setup sound quiet.

Cats or a quiet muffler+cutout combo. Hooker catback+headers+ORP is loud and cool sounding but it's pretty loud.

That's why I have a Dual-Dual with an electronic cut-out. I hardly ever even get a head-turn from the law (TR230, Jet-Hot LTs w/ORY). For those moments where I have a need to be heard, I just crack open the cut-out.

Thats always fun. I remember on my old IROC I ran open headers. In a period of 3 days I passed at least 8 cops and nobody did anything. I pretty much just got people trying to race me.
Although when I was a block from the exhaust shop (at night) a cop was sitting on the corner typing up reports with his dome light on. Well I turned the corner and scared the crap out of the cop. He looked like a deer caught in headlights.

Why are Harleys allowed to "knock" our ears off?

No idea, there is a stupid double standard with bikes. Some Harley guys are way louder than my car.

Nothing pisses me off more than that "double standard" with Harley's.

It doesn't matter if they're sitting still, or going 30 MPH: if they're in a residential or on a busy street: if it's 4 PM or 2 IN THE MORNING... they rev those damn things alllllllllll the ******* time... and yet WE get loud exhaust tickets???

This is yet another reason why I agree with "**** da po-lice". They seem to **** me off more than help me out.

Bike's need to be noticed! plain and simple. There's to many idiots that don't check or expect a bike. The sound allows them to be "known"

Harleys don't need straight pipes to be noticed.

Bike's need to be noticed! plain and simple.
Then they should wear a f@cking flashing light on their head if that's the only reason why!!!

It's complete BS that a Harley can be obnoxiously loud but cars get harrassed for a slightly loud exhaust.
