Question about fluorescent overhead lights.
Question about fluorescent overhead lights. I have 3 - 4' overhead fluorescent lights in my garage and recently they went out. The middle section went first which I figured was just a bulb. Prior to replacing those, the two other sections went out as well. Along with that, the fuse for the lights in my breaker box keeps tripping when I turn on the light switch. Went today and bought all new bulbs and changed them out. Turn on the light switch and pop, the fuse trips again. Are there internal fuses in the light housing themselves. I know a little about the starters, but not enough to know if that would cause the fuse to pop if those were faulty. Anyone have any suggestions?
There can be a short in the transformer. If you take the panel cover off, you will see the transformer. Check for a burning smell. I don't recall any removable fuses. It's probably a bad transformer.

I believe that there may be a bad balast or two in the lights. Just need to take them apart and check it out further.
