How bad is the Dan Ryan really??

How bad is the Dan Ryan really?? I drive the ryan every weekend... and now with all the construction taking 294 instead is going to make my trip that much longer.
I have heard that the dan-ryan construction has not hurt traffic flow nearly as much as everyone though it would. Obviously I'm sure its a nightmare during rush hour, but I am not insane enough to attempt to drive the ryan during rush hour with all the lanes open anyway!
So who has driven the ryan since they closed all these lanes and is it really as bad as the media and everyone else is hyping it up to be ??

From what i hear.. its not bad i have not driven on it yet since the construction.. i usually take 294... But i heard that all the "alternate" routes are for **** and the ryan an't bad.

I've noticed that inbound traffic (south towards chicago) on the Edens has gotten slightly lighter on my commute home since the Dan-Ryan construction began. Not sure how or why, just a positive observation. Then again, I only take the Edens if I can get out of work by 3:30-3:45pm. Any later and I use some other non-expressway routes.... It'll probably get really heavy now that I mentioned it though.

i use to take it to school and forgot that the construction was happening 
, it almost trippled my time to school and i missed a class becuse of it. ur best bet is to take 294, it might take a little longer but it will still be faster then the dan ryan
