Help me with my Paint
 

Most of you guys know me, but for those that dont, i have a black SS that has ALOT of swirls, and scratches, and haze in the paint. A buddy of mine buffed and polished it for me and used that cleaner wax on it to try to remove all the swirls and scratches and haze thats in my paint, but the paint is still really bad. I was wondering is what should i do? take it somewhere to get it professionally wet sanded or maybe save the money and get the entire car repainted? Or if anyone on here has hookups on either of them or knows how to do them please let me know.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'd respray the car, but you know you need a new hood first too. The cracks will probably come back... I can probably have it completely redone for like 3000-3500ish...

Ya mike i know i would need a new hood..i plan on picking that up though..heres some pics..i couldnt get the pics to come out as good as i wanted, but the whole car look spretty much the same..

Why not try wetsanding it before you decide on a paint job. I wet sanded my own hood and front bumper, then buffed and polished and it looks better than new! I had swirls and fine scratches like you do (red car though)

see i dont have the experience to do it and im scared as hell, especially on a black car...i was just wondering what everyone thought

Yeah, I don't think I'd try it if it was black. I was supposed to put a different hood on my car, that's why I did it on my car.

ya..damn someone has to either know how to get this stuff out, or recommend a good place that can get it all out.

back when i had my gn i used a product that i think was called the TREATMENT ???it was a 2 stage cleaner & wax,it kicked ass on black!!!!!!! :)

ya..i think im gonna just pick up a porter cable polisher and a bunch of nice products and try it out

weve got some great shit at my dealership that i used on quite a few cars when i was in detail. ifr u want me to get ahold of some, drop me a PM and ill see when we can get this set up. it would be a great idea if u did get that electric buffer. take it easy!

Try this for shits... just try a section of the car to see if it looks better.
Meguiars #7 polish and Mothers pure Carnuba. If you would like I could lend ya some and we could see if it works. It is worth a try considering it would take 5 minutes. Meguiars #y ans #26 work wonders on black cars.

Lemme know. If it works, you will save ALOT, and if it doesn't, then you wasted 5 minutes of your life.

What I would try a is foam pad and some 3M Swirl Mark Remover for Dark Cars. Pretty sure that's what it was called? :jest:
Finesse It might work too. Probably some other things that work on dark cars too.
What did you buff it with the first time?
I'm actually not a big fan of anything Meguiars as it's all chalky and makes a freakin' mess.
If you go the wet sand route just use some 2000 girt and be gentle. You don't have to push. Just lightly slide the paper over the paint. LIGHTLY.

Meguiars and chalky?!!!! WOW, never used any Meguiars that was chalky...

Really? I remember using Medium Cut Cleaner (which I think was their #1) and whatever #3 was. Really chalky stuff, so I quit using it a long time ago. 8 years or so I guess.
I think their Hi-Tech Yellow Wax was really chalky too.
Maybe they changed the formula's or something since then.
Hell, I remember I used to think their waxes were really greasy too.
Guess I'm just not a fan. :)

First you need better products to take car of your paint get microfiber towels, The Absorber, and a Microfiber wash mit. 2nd you need a orbital polisher.

You have a lot of deep scratches on there some will probably not come out without wetsanding and polishing.

you need to wash, clay, wash, then dry with the absorber

Take your orbital polisher out and use the following products on the corresponding colors of the Sonus pads.
Yellow-3m Perfect-It II
white- Meguiars #7 Deep gloss glaze
Blue- NXT or gold class wax.
microfiber bonnet- Take the wax off.

My car was pretty fubard from the previous owner taking it through the automatic car wash and after following these steps it came out looking like this.
I don't have pics of before but trust me it was like yours.

i take great care of my car, its just the previous owner scratched it to hell...im gonna have to try some of the things u guys were saying

so no one knows anyone that does wetsanding? or should i just call bodyshops in the area and see

I honestly feel that if you can find a bucket of water and some 2000 grit sandpaper you could do it yourself.

Id use Mothers paste Carnuba, outstanding product!

I took a look at your car at steak and shake. I was there, had the lil eclipse a row in front of yours(towards applebees).
Def needs a GOOD GOOD buff, or just a new paint job. A buff will help, but if you are going to keep the car, and have the cash, id get a new look for sure.
Looks tough though, love the cme for sure!
