Default 3 questions =)

Hey im a total noob when it comes to most car things. But i have a really retarded question first off. What is a bolt on?

Also i want to put a cam into my car, but dont want to replace anything else like pistons or anything. But i wana upgrade whats the biggest size you guys recommend going what type...size...ect. And will it make a big enough diffrence to even upgrade (keeping in mind i only wana replace cam).

And last but not least what size throttle body should i put on it. I wana go for power obviously. but have no idea what size nor make model ect.

I have a 2001 ws6 trans am. ram air. and nothing done to engine. Only thing i can see is i have a aluminum driveshaft.

(1) bolt ons are mods that you add outside of the engine, IE, Headers, Intake manifold, exhaust, Pulleys, ect.

(2). You cant just replace the cam, you will also need new springs, and a timing chain wouldnt hurt either, Also better pushrods will help. As to size, It all depends on what you want to do with the car, If its aminly a street car, then go smaller, this way you will have a healthy power curve, and wont feel sluggish at low rpm's.

Also for a big cam to work, you need better heads, the stock ones will hold you back alot if you get a huge cam.

(3). First try and port your own, or purchase from one of our sponsors a ported stock TB.

If you've got the huge cam and good heads, then go with a FAST 90/90 for optimal performance.

A bolt on is any part that can be bolted on that makes the car faster or run better such as headers, intake, throttle body, but internals such as a cam, heads, and pistons would not be considered bolt ons as they would require more work then just bolting them on.

For a cam thats your own chioce look at others reviews I Like the MS3 cam but you would prolly want to do more to your motor before it.

As for the TB I would only do that if you did the intake as well.

I know that i'll need pushrods springs and timing. I just ment i dont want to have to get better heads ect. I wana go big enough to feel the diffrence, but not really big to have to change the heads and anything else. And yeah its a total street car, but i wana here that old car noise in the exahost where you can here the cam ya know what i mean? So what size or make ya'll think?

before you buy a cam... definitely do all your bolts. Especially intake and exhaust. Without headers the cam will just choke out the heads.

bolt on to do:

Intake:
BG Ram Air
Larger MAF (I had gains, but some people dont)
ported Throttle body plus bump stop mod (the stock TB is good for over 400+ horses!
You DONT need to change your intake manifold, you have the ls6 manifold and its great one to have!!

Exhaust:
Flow through muffler or exhaust cutout/dump (your decision)
high flow cats or no cats (your decision)
ORY-pipe if not catted
Long Tube headers

Engine:
Underdrive pulley

Chassis/suspension:
subframe connectors
Lower control arms
torque arm
