Cadmium or Zinc plating
There is a company called 3J's Plating in Elk Grove Village on Landmier Road right next to the post office. I used to work there back in High School. We used to do small batches of parts for people all the time. I dont have the number but look it up and give them a call. It has been about 10 years since I worked there but they are still in business.

PSJ, I just looked at three J's website and they don't list Chrome plating. I assume that is what your looking for? The plating I am looking for is what you find on a lot of fasteners, a dull silver or a dull gold color.

3 J's is still in business, I'd use that term loosely.

We have used them in the past. IMO I'd avoid this place like the plague.
They are VERY slow to respond to our requests for quotes and this is on larger batches of parts. They ran some larger quantities of parts for us last year. Quoted us one price then when we got invoices the prices did not match the quotes. Despite numerous phone calls and emails they refused to reconsile the situation.
I decided to give them a chance to quote again for us the first week of July. I'm still waiting for pricing. -lol
I don't know who was running the place when JZHeyde was working there but last time I was over there it was all women. I think that is the main problem.
I'd be curious how quick they respond and if they will even do a small order. My guess is unless you have a large batch of parts you will see a min. lot charge in the neighborhood of $150+
Cad is getting expensive and there are very few places around here that still do it. You'll probably have better luck with zinc.

SLPSS01 Thank you very much for the heads up on 3 J's. Sounds like a lot has changed since JZHeyde worked there. LOL I just have some door latch mechanisms and a few suspension bolts I want plated so zinc it will be on your recommendation. There are a few places listed in Hemmings I am going to call tomorrow.
