Every car is different. Some like to be flashed off of idle, and others liked to be brake stalled to close to the stall speed. I had a 4600 in my last car and it liked to be launched off a foot brake at 4000. This 4400 I have in this car likes to be flashed off of idle. Just play around with it at the track and see which works better.

I agree with Matt that you will find they all like to be launched differently.

testing is the only way to see what works

It definitely won't hurt anything if you stall it up before launching if that's what your buddy was hinting at. As long and you dont' sit there like a tard for a long time with it stalled up. It builds heat up but not enough to hurt anything if you do it only briefly.

But play around and see which way it leaves better. Alot of efi cars do great stalling just a little to load the suspension and then flashing it. I stall my carb'd car to 3 grand(basically fully stalled up) and it likes that. I also have nitrous on a WOT switch, so even if I tried to flash it off idle chances are it would stumble and probably backfire.

My buddy has a 3000 stall in his truck, and I have a 3600 in my camaro, and we have found we get a better hit and 60' time when we brake stall ours up to around Half the stall speed!!
