The only reason I like barracks life here is because 1) I rate my own room and 2) the Roadhouse (bar, for those of you unfamiliar w/ CP) is about 100 yards from my barracks. I can stumble to and from the bar, no worrying about finding a DD. Now if only it wasn't such a sausage fest...

 

Living in the Barracks sucks, because of field day. Im getting approved for BAH/BAS....$1k more a month and about half that im pocketing....so long barracks life!!!

Oh man, I love the barracks, and drinking in the barracks on the internet. Well, my current barracks is a 7 bedroom/8 bathroom 3 story mansion with a billiards room, a full bar, ping pong table, full gym, three big screen tv's, a halfcourt basketball court, voleyball court, and every bedroom has a fairly large balcony. The only thing we lack is beer on tap. We also have a maid/cook and get driven around everywhere. MSG duty rocks. I have to gloat every once in a while.

Oh, and all the bars are within easy walking distance from the "barracks" as well.

And Slovenian girls are great in bed.

Damn it. Then barracks life sucks. We had field day all weekend 4 out of every 5 weeks. We had some horrible SNCO's.

 

yeah i know the feeling when i was out there i had my own house 3 stories a single snco with a 3 bedroon house. a maid and my own car. aaahhhh the good life other than that when i was a pvt- cpl i lived in a squad bay and fieldday blew ***. but not anymore.

 

**** the barracks, I have my room to myself, but it still finds it's little ways of sucking.

At least it's FREE!!

 

If nothing else, it sucks because they are run down buildings with lots of bugs, no weatherstripping, and base controlled heating and air. It really sucks when they turn on the heater in December and turn it off in June. The barracks will always suck. Well, maybe not for the air force guys. How are your buildings? Are they on the verge of being condemed as well?

 

MSG duty was the best tour in my Marine Corps career. I was at MSG Det Brussels and MSG Det Havana.

Now I am at Ft. Leonard Wood in my house.

 

Heck when I came off MSG and was stationed at Quantico I had my own room. barracks life was nice.

Field day was Monday. Tonight it is Friday! Bush Light is only $10.29 for a 30 pack. Hell yeah!

Not actually, they are kind of set up like college dorm rooms, with two men to a room. We have a wall mounted unit for heat/air. They were built in the 50's and are in fairly decent shape, considering they have been rehabbed twice since the early 80's. They are actually building up the center courtyard again.

We got it pretty good sice we are a shore duty command. I have heard horror stories from every branch though.

Air force barracks are damn nice from what I hear.

 

Also, we don't have a set field day, just an inspection on Wednesdays, but EVERY day is drinking day.

Thats all there is to do in the barracks, besides bang locals.
