Wow, I would love to have one of those. Hopefully they will make them so they can go right in place of our current QTP and DMH cutouts.

Spd-Kilz 10-13-2008 02:47 PM

I don't quite see the point in replacing your QTP/DMH cutout with this. Maybe I'm missing the point, but does it really matter if it opens in 1/4 second vs. 3 seconds?

Cvaught 10-13-2008 02:48 PM

I just like the fact that it opens quickly and I wouldn't have to worry about burning up the motor in it if I held it open too long or closed too long.

that is totally false, having an open cutout for a long period of time will not damage your car

I think he's talking about the motor of the cutout. Not the cars motor.

Spd-Kilz 10-13-2008 03:13 PM

I think he meant burning out the cutout's motor by holding the button too long.

Regardless, just use common sense when you're opening your cutout, and don't hold the button for 100000 hours.

pretty cool, i want a cutout =D

Spd-Kilz 10-13-2008 03:23 PM

It is the single most fun mod I've done to my car. Highly suggested.

Nice.

Right after seeing that I talked to a friend that knows the local guy that knows the guy that built these. And was there for the video. He had been talking about it for some time. I liked the QTP ones but there are soooo many issues with those. dakota digital made them with linar actuators. but to date these are the best on the market.

Note: these sound cool but DON'T always give Power gains or ET gains!

Really?

So when you bypass a muffler/s you wont gain any power?

i lost 3 lb of torque on the dyno when testing the affects of my cutout. i guess i just have a decent exhaust?

You have to be on drugs or something man. I have a 20hp/ and about a 20tq difference to the wheels with the cutout closed vs open. I have a stock catback for the stealthy feel but the point is theres def a gain from the cutout im not sure why your saying you lost 3lbtq from one?

c0ncEpT 10-13-2008 08:48 PM

I think the sweet thing about this would be the "TPS actuation" feature. If I'm understanding it right you could set this thing to open say when you are at 90% throttle or above. I could be wrong tho.

Why would an electric cutout become damaged if open for too long? The motor only works while opening it then shuts off. Same with closing it.

TheSilverOne 10-13-2008 09:17 PM

fart sound on
fart sound off

cool idea though

why did you quote him and then bash me? first off you have headers and y-pipe into stock exhaust(which if its not the dual/dual it sucks). which is why you would gain from a cut out. get an aftermarket and exhaust then watch what happens when you test your cutout gain/losses on the dyno you might see 5hp from it.

Spd-Kilz 10-13-2008 10:25 PM

Being open does not hurt it. It is being opened improperly which hurts the motor. If you hold the button for longer than needed, than it will burn out the motor.

Also, you would obviously see impressive gains from running a cutout vs. stock exhaust, although the gains are marginal with a catback exhaust.

Yea this cutout seems like a good piece. How much though ?:secret2:
