actually i think that is Called Carmine Red. I do not believe that magnetic red was introduced to 2000 or something.

True, if it's a 97-98, then it would be Carmine Red. I assumed this car was newer, so that's why I figured it was Magnetic Red, which was introduced in 1999. First came Magnetic Red I, then they brought out Magnetic Red II in 2000, which is more of a candy apple red than the previous colors which were more of a medium red/burgundy. They all look very similar in pictures on the net though, but in person you can see the difference.

I was disappointed when Magnetic Red disappeared in 2003, but they did this because they came out with the 50th anniversary red, which was a darker red. For 2004 it's back though (but now they discontinued another of my favorite colors, Electron Blue, as they have the Commemorative edition in LeMans blue instead)
