Skip the GE because usually you get alot better results from company's that have been in the camera buisness for awhile, and I have had a kodak camera and I have used other people's and personally I hate them. I think the quality sucks and the interface on the camera is not really up to standards that I like. Im used to shooting slr's and when I was looking for a point and shoot I found that the sony's take very nice pics. I went with a little higher end one, an h50 but my gf has a cybershot and I love it too. heres a link to that one.

I'd suggest the Canon PowerShot. Same price range as the others.

I have nothing but good things to say about canon. Never had a problem with mine. (have the powershot for backup/trips)

My first point and shoot was a Kodak and while it wasn't top of the line, it took some really nice pics. Get a middle of the road model, learn the features and step up in a year.
