I don't think that is what happened. I think he put the pedal to the metal and tried going in the grass to pass up the camera car. The grassy area was uneven and "swallowed" him into the guard rail. I see no brake lights on the car. When the car was first hit do you see him step on the brakes but at that point, . . it was too late.

If he was on the brakes and lost control before he came into camera view... he sure entered the screen straight as a night and attacked the guardrail like he had a stroke and did it on purpose. I've never seen anyone lose control and not have the wheel turned or the brakes on.

Wow! You can actually see him hit the ground and slide across the road. He stops right in front of that car. Wonder what they were thinking?

Dang, must have thought he was driving KITT. Looked like Turbo Boost in action. Hope he pulls through so we can get some more story.

I really enjoyed this in the article:

The specific cause of the crash has not yet been determined, but Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Marty Fellure said crash investigators are looking into whether speed played a factor. The investigators also will test for alcohol, which is a routine procedure.
I think it was.

yea i read that article stating they were investigating if speed was a factor.... UH.... HELL-******-LO??? the cruiser must doing atleast 65. That car has to be doing 130 or better when hitting the bridge. Did you see the divot he took out of that bridge? damn. Hes lucky he was ejected... But part of me wonders if this was a suicide attempt or just stupidity. I mean the brakes didnt light up until it was airborn.

I didnt know turd gens were capable of those kinds of speeds lol. Sure did have the god damn aerodynamics to fly though. If it werent for that overpass it may have sprouted wings and kept flying.

He is very fortunate to be alive. Here is another video from the local news with interviews of the cop and a witness.

on my 89 trans am i had my tpi tb stuck open on my residential street twice in one day. not a fun experience. spray a little wd-40 and the problem went away. So its possible the kid had his tb stuck open, but then again i don't see his brake lights turning on

Seems it was a base firebird v6. He was also arrested prior to the incident.

It says he was ejected and ended up on the right side of the road. It looks like he came to a stop in front of the white/silver car that had to swerve and break really hard. I could be wrong though.

Hope he makes it.
I think your right when you watch the slow motion you can make it out.
