Default Picture of the month dilemma

It was brought to my attention that some of the participants have been sending random PMs to people soliciting votes. Do you think these participants should be disqualified?

**** yes. I suspected that was the case in some of the pics currently submitted. That is just cheating, plain and simple. This is a friendly "contest", why the need to do something like that? Beyond me.

Thanks chaman, you summed up what I was thinking. I didn't sleep last night and I'm grouchy as hell today. I wanted to get some member feedback before pulling anyone's plug.

I agree with you guys. It's one thing to hit up friends and people you know but for as long as this contest has been running there's no need to start pm-ing to generate interest. If you want to win that bad, learn some photo skills or something.

YES. but I think the reason shouldn't be appear to public to give that guy another chance to be a good guy.for example " this pic was disqualified for violating the rules of the thread"

Thanks again for the feedback, it turns out that this may have just been a misunderstanding due to the way the PMs were worded. The person was trying to get people to vote for ANY car, not just his. When I go back and re-read the PM, I can see how this is possible but it was worded in a way that read like he was soliciting votes for his car.

I just wanted to clear up the fact that there were no malicious intentions, and everyone is still invited to participate in future PotM votes.

I got a Pm from someone and it just asked to please vote. Nothing was said about a certain car or pic.

Thanks, I think this was a misunderstanding based on the wording of the PM.

Yes, saying please vote is different then the above mentioning soliciting "friends" who you KNOW will vote for you. I personally think you telling "friends" is way more like cheating then saying hey you don't know me but can you look at this thread. I for one don't think there is enough interest in the picture of the month. Yall need to get the word out better. Maybe post a thread in racers lounge with a link over to the thread.

I would hope people would vote for who they think should win regardless of someone asking for a vote.

I do recall being DQ'd once myself actually. A while back now. It wasn't even me that asked for the votes, but someone else told people to come here and vote for me from another site.

This is off topic but Mohammed I noticed your sig pic and was wondering if this is your video.

On Topic: I think members PMing other members asking them to vote should have the picture they wanted voted for DQ'd, but still be able to have a different picture voted for. Either that or just total DQ for that member for that particular month.

i would say no. i am going to vote for the pic that i think is best, no matter what someone else tells me. If someone asks me for a vote, i doubt id vote for them just because they asked me to.

^this. i just found out about it today by accident. post up something in the appearance/detailing section, where all everyone cares about is how their cars look...

and yes, DQ 'em. its bad enough no one knows about it, when you go out and bring in votes it makes it pointless. and in all reality, if someone gets a PM simply asking to come vote, they'll probably read that as, "please vote for me (the PM sender)" and will indeed, vote for that person if they have a picture submitted.
