Zero desire for the LS7 because I wanted a motor strong for boost and the LS7 isn't that motor. My last car was all motor/nitrous and if I wanted that route I would have got a Z06 but boost is where its at so LS3 made more sense. Also if I would have got a Z06 it probably would have been a 2006 or 2007 and I wanted a 2008 or newer corvette because of the better rear end and tr6060 trans.
LS3 has lower compression that is "safer" for boost compared to a LS7. Corvette tax is a term used to describe how parts for the corvette are higher. It's not a real tax however.

nice car! cannot go wrong with JSB!
used by people who have moved up the corvette from cheaper cars, and were accustomed to certain price ranges for items. moving to a more expensive car (not limited to corvettes) typically also comes with more expensive prices for everything else. performance and appearance mods, repair/labor work, etc.
only a popular term because so many people with corvettes started with the lower level stuff, like f-bodies

Nice car! If I could stop spending on my other toys mine would look the same right now with a blower under the hood
Oh well, getting 50mpg on my bike when gas is $4.65 a gallon for premium right now makes it worth it haha.
All of this, and you forgot to add in the fact that the LS7s have a MAJOR (IMO) problem with breaking the stock rocker arm bearings. When I was shopping it seemed like every LS7 with 40-50k on it already had a rebuilt motor, not something I'd want to deal with on a $40k car! It's not a hard thing to fix, but I doubt most Z06 owners would have let me rip into their cars before I bought it to check for already falling apart bearings ha.
