Well, it is a defensive tactics move. You strike the nerve that runs up the side of the neck and it causes complete motor skill failure. It was a back-handed strike to the Common Peroneal.

The "pimp" never saw it coming since the other guy was faking him out by keeping his right hand cocked back.

A spinning back punch would have really fucked him up.

It is a neck strike, causes a jolt to the brain temporarily shutting it and everything else down. Quick and effective way to subdue someone when it comes down to hand to hand. Suprisingly enough when properly trained to execute the manuever it is never fatal. Miss by a couple inches though and you can crush the wind pipe which is almost always fatal...

I used to take Kenpo classes, then paid for private lessons after which we learned some basic survival moves/strikes/etc. Very effective to say the least!
