Drifting In-Car
What this guy is doing is exibitionism, just like someone shitting on someone elses chest and filming it. They sell it for a profit and that is exibitionism. Scat nor drifting has any real effect on racing.
You can be an idiot consumer and keep on being told what is cool. Jump into the trend and be different just like everyone else.

Continually dialing shift times, amount of throttle, when you turn the wheel, your speed and angle for every corner, and not to mention adjusting them all as you go is a HELL of a lot harder than stabbing the throttle and shifting gears...
That's right, i said it...go ahead get angry, i don't care you're not going to hurt my feelings.
When does timing take place? Once, when the tree turns green...and every time the orange light on your tach. goes off you have to shift and if your fast enough you have to pull a shute. Holy hell, spend a couple hours at your local test and tune track and you've got it down pat. Top Fuel? alright, three weekends. Those guys spend MAYBE an hour in that car over the ENTIRE season...around 4.6 seconds a pass you do the math...
For those of you who watched the LI Extreme DVD a damn girl (blonde might i add) in a bikini pulled the front end off the ground on that Blue Nova and kept it straight ON THE STREET. Wow, must be real difficult ehh?
And when i'm refering to drifting i'm not talking about some moron in a riced out prelude jerking off his hand brake around his neighborhood... I've seen quite a few domestic drivers do retarded ****...anyone remember that moron swerving back and forth at the track in his Camaro and then skids off and into the wall?.."hmm oh yeah!!! well well well....he's just dumb."
Just because Drifting is mainly dominated by imports doesn't mean it's retarded. If it were domestics that started the craze you same guys that are whining about it now would completely approve of it....
I'm not bashing either side, but when people pick on the special kid who can do 7 digit math problems in his head it's time to step in. (That's a metaphor kiddies)
Tell me you haven't done it and it's not fun. Pointless is what horsepower is all about. Can a blower pushin 850 hp make the mini van in the fast lane pass granny in the slow lane? NO, but i can do what i want with it. Drift, Drag, Rally, Sand, Dirt...Whatever. I must say i like drifting because i'm a big fan of Rally, where a lot of drifters come from. Rally takes some real skills and drifting is part of how they have to race. I'd guess it became popular because so many fans hung out in the corners of the roads where this occured the most. I'd rather stand there and see them drift by at 120 than watch them go around a course at slower speeds. BUT it still takes a LOT of skill.

I used to think it was pretty useless too, and required little to no skill. Until i went along with a good buddy of mine in his 240sx. I think i almost loaded my pants, he takes that thing sideways at almost any speed right to the edge of the pavement, and smooth as heck. But i will say alot depends on the cars balance and set up. Big ole heavy american cars arent the greatest for it.

Try to compute this. Drag racing consists of what...? Assuming you have a manual, you have to properly slip the clutch, then mash the gas and change every gear.
Drifting entails having the proper corner entry speed and location, selecting to start the drift by gas or brake, obvious steering inputs throughout the drift, and as soon as you are through the apex of the corner, you have to end your drift so it sets you up for the next corner and be at the right speed already.
Thats alot more **** IMO. I still prefer drag racing, used to work for SAR, and will gladly post up a pic of the winning trophy from the pony car and f-body shootout (bracket) in late 2003.
Point being...dont knock something because
1) Youre too scared to try it or
2) You tried it and sucked at it
Im done with this thread
