i don't believe i'll have to worry about this, seeing how my vehicle isn't "hard" on parts anyhow.

Sorta like putting a titanium cage around a kitten.

Looks like it'll work though, makes sense. The hp gain is more of a bonus in my eyes. Durability is the greatest issue. 14 passes to 40 with very little wear?
good deal.

I'm sure that it'll fan out into other applications, and things will come with the finish already on them. Like the obvious one...cams.

Dammit I wish I had some new parts to do this to! The one spot they said was in Eatontown NJ. Which is about a total 15 min drive from where I live. I'll have to find this place and see what its all about.

Well for 250 it might be able to keep the 10 bolt from breaking the gears.

What exactly breaks in our 10 bolt? Because if it's something that can be treated for around $500, it would eliminate the necessity to buy new rear!!!

The entire rear does suck. Mine has been pretty good to me though so when i get gears I may have it done and see how it goes.

I think some of the benefits not being focused on is some of us who like the added performance of a higher gear ratio, but hate the dreaded gear whine.

For someone who doesn't want to drop $2500 on a rear with abs/traction control etc, this may be a cost sensible option. Get a ring and pinion + the differential done and it should make for a very quiet, strong rear. Granted, it probably won't last long in a six speed running slicks and dropping the clutch at 6000 rpm, but for a fun street car, this might be a great option for 400-500 dollars.

FWIW GM couldnt put a different rear end in the fbodies.

back on topic though, i wouldnt be getting this done to increase hp and really wouldnt even care or know if it did. i would be getting it done because to me $250 is worth it if i dont have to spend $2500 for a new rear end.

ive heard of this before, it basically almost totally reduces all the friction, which can add hp....

yeah, the real benifit is the added strength not any added HP.

Why couldnt GM put a different rear in anyway? I never heard that before.

I'm thinking the same thing. It would have literally cost GM $20 more to use the 8.5". It all comes down to getting the product out the door for as cheap as possible.

And good ****. I'm sold. Put that and a girdle over the 10 bolt and maybe it will take some power.
