At those speeds weight is far less an issue compared to aerodynamics. On the contrary, the C5's high-speed stability could benefit from more curb-weight when exceeding lift speeds since it lacks down-force (someone earlier in this thread noticed how the Vette started to lift and become unstable at a small dip in that road; in the absensce of down-force, evenly-added weight would be recommended

With a LOT of down-force I'd like to calculate the theoretical top speed of that C5 (with proper gearing and requisite down-force eg. spoilers, wind-difusers, etc. I'd guess mid 230's )
Question for the owner: did it sound like the windshield harmonics were going to shatter it out of the cowl? When I hit those speeds, I was more fearful of what was happening to my windshield than the actual speed itself
From the sound, I could almost imagine visibly seeing the windshield moving in and out
