Once that cop had to exceed 100mph, he should have shut down the pursuit. Maybe let the 2nd cop make an attempt at slowing them down. But going 150mph in an overweight squad car, with subpar handling and braking is just not a smart decision for anyone on the road.
If someone isn't willingly pulling over, you're much better off leaving the other innocent people out of the pursuit. In the end, he definitely made the right decision.
