It's really not that hard it all to put the springs in, theres a writeup for it on this site. Lower control arms and relocation brackets are a good idea to have to if you lower it (I haven't done this yet, but definitely need to). Alot of people change out the struts too while its apart. The stock struts supposedly don't last too long on a lowered car. I don't have the best of roads in my area either, steep driveways are the biggest problem. You just have to be a little more careful.
