Default Learning to airbrush fire

This is my first attempt trying to paint fire. I have alot to learn but we all have to start somewhere.

Oh and yes I know its blasphemy to post a picture of a Ford intake but its practice for my brothers GT that I have yet to beat lol DAMNIT!

If I get good enough he wants me to paint it on his car, obviously right now I dont feel comfortable since this is my first attempt.
He will have to wait since he's getting it for free eventually .

yea man, looks really good, especially considering the horribly uneven surface you were painting on. Nice work!

Thanks alot guys I appreciate the comments.

I can see where I screwed up in some areas but I was so excited to hurry up and clear it.

I did actually purchase a dvd and stencil set but watching the video is more confusing than just winging it.
I got the live fire by Anh Pham and dont get me wrong its a great video and I did pick up some tricks but I couldnt watch it and mimic it.

Thanks again for the comments.

That looks very good. I love the way it flicks off toward the top and how it looks so natural at the bottom. The middle of it (with the raised intake tract before the plenum) looks a lot like the typical "fire" you see in vinyl form with the near perfectly circular gap in the middle, but it still looks absolutely awesome. If you weren't so far away, I'd give you some parts to "practice" on.

I completely agree with you. When I started the bottom I felt comfortable then as I moved up to the middle I lost the control and the fire looks out of place. Like I said I have alot to learn lol.
Thanks for the compliment.
