Video Compression?

Video Compression? What do you guys use for video compression? The software that came with my camcorder doesn't SEEM like it has a compression feature on it, so my 15 second long video's are about 10 meg. 
Re: Video Compression? I use 2 pass DIVX at about 600k to 800k, and MP3 audio compression at 40k. Use Virtual Dub as the frame server. Theres lots of different compresion schemes out there that work good. MPEG2 is cool. Go to www.DOOM9.org and get the stuff. If you go for the DIVX either get the free one without the spyware (it's gator and gator is bad!), or buy the pro.

Re: Video Compression? If you use Windows ME or XP you can use Windows Movie Maker to easily create WMV files that can be very small (also very low quality), or find a level of compression you can live with.
It is already on your computer and it is free. I use Media Studio Pro, but it gets more complicated and it is expensive.

Re: Video Compression? Dale, I downloaded the DivX program you suggested, but it doesn't seem very easy to use (at least to a complete video novice).
Pocholin- Thanks for the tip. I think I have to compress the vid as I'm pulling it off the camera with the "Movie Maker" software, but it looks like the best alternative I've figured out so far.

Re: Video Compression? Yea, you have to use it with a frame server. If you practice you'll learn to love it. Movie Maker is good too, use what your comfortable with then experiment.

Re: Video Compression? Divx is a good tool, but not many people have it and it takes a little to learn it.
WMV format is in every Windows machine and many Macs are adopting it now, and much easier to encode.

As far as using the Movie Maker program itself, I'm not going to take the time to type out a users manual for you. Try using the tutorials and the help sections on it though.
As for compression (my reason for posting this thread), if you click the "Save to my computer" link on the program, it takes you to a screen where you choose how much to compress it. Obviously, the more you compress it the more the quality drops. I'll usually drop the size until the frame rate is around 250 or so, for reference.
