By the looks of it, Phillips wouldn't stage because Barnett was already fully staged before Phillips was pre-staged. On a test and tune night, specially if they're rivals, that's unsportsmanlike (that would be a DQ on race night). Viper V10s run pretty hot as it is, so I would say Phillips was allowing Phillips' Viper to "warm up" a little as payback.

I think the reason most supras arent as fast as they should be for the amount of power they produce comes mainly down to the setup and the owner/driver.
I would compare most supra owners to squids on bikes. They have a ton of power and really crazy dyno graphs but lack the skill or ***** to use it all.
