I feel for you guys. I actually pm'ed a mod several weeks ago about this guy (and I never heard back). I asked him for pics of an engine, and he sent me pics of an engine from ANOTHER MEMBER's ad. He said the guy he stole the pics from worked at his shop, other guy denied knowing him. Big ordeal, lots of pm's. No one I've pmed had anything nice to say about him.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt and accepted his explanaitons. And did not buy his engine.

I'm still waiting for my pics of the engine with his iphone on top displaying the pm I sent him. It's a good thing I didn't hold my breath....I would have been dead weeks ago.

Good luck everyone.

Am I the only person that was stupid enough to pay for a complete engine from this guy?
How much is everyone else in for?

Nope, I was.

$2200 for the (somewhat) complete LS2
$200 to have the reluctor changed over
$1500 for 3 months rent at the shop
$900 to have the motor I received put into running form.

$4900

We settled on $1000 refund, to help pay for the machine shop labor and a months rent. I haven't gotten anything yet. I will give him a week before I contact some other parties to get some results.

I do have his address if it's of any use to anybody. Unfortunately, i don't have any updates.

I did receive an engine from Craig Payne, but it did not come as advertised. It was half *** strapped to a pallet, and was missing all the accessories, intake manifold/throttle body, starter, exhaust manifold, water pump, any and all accessory bolts, etc. I've been trying to reach an agreement with him to be reimbursed for all the parts i've had to buy to make this thing run, namely the water pump and alternator (plus bracket). He agreed to send me some money about 3 or 4 weeks ago, but that hasn't happened.

Edit: my ls2 was $2600, then i paid for a vette oil pan from him for $240 (WHICH WAS ATTACHED TO THE MOTOR HE GAVE ME) , and bought my own starter for $160, used water pump/neck for another $80, now i just need the alternator and bracket (about $150 i'm guessing?). We settled on a paltry $165 reimbursement which is the same one mentioned above that i'm still waiting for. :-/

I think almost everybody involved has his address now. I'd love to hear the outcome of this, and hope everybody's involvement can lead to a positive (as much as can be) outcome.

According to this site, he hasnt logged on since the 22nd...

For what it is worth, here is what he has been saying:

ok, i am sorry about this and am done on ls1tech as well as every internet site. ive been on the phone with paypal all day to try adn remedy this situation. if you payed by credit card that is fine, just make the claim with them and they will go to paypal for the money, and then i will make arrangements with paypal to give them the money they refunded you.

and before that:

Hi Zach,

i can provide pictures, or anything you need to prove to you that your engine is about to go out.
i wont be able to have it out by Friday ( the day paypal needs verification ) with the holiday, is there anyway we can set it up to where i will get it to you this coming week? i do not have the resources to send you your money back for the motor, but will reimburse you some money for waiting this long.

i have settled the few other problems ive had so please don't look at that to base your opinion.

thanks,
Craig

and before that:

definately not zach. your motor will be on your doorstep shortly. as you will shortly see, i have remedied all previous situations

and before that:

I just received your message on ls1tech, and im having a hard time accessing the website. it will cost approx. 250 more to ship the motor.

it just cost me $400 to ship a set of seats i sold for 450 shipped. and i have about 4 other motors to go out. i apologize for the time this has been taking but you will be very pleased and i will do my best to get this to you asap.

im taking care of shipping 100 percent, so dont think im asking you to add more, im just letting you know that i need to make sure this is all straightened out because i cant afford to do such a thing.

and before that:

shipments are made on wednesdays and fridays. it should make it out tomorrow but possibly friday! (This one was made on 7/22)

Many more before that too. I kept all correspondence from him which has been a good thing. This whole ordeal has really scarred me from buying parts in classified sections like this. I have claims filed with both my credit card company and PayPal. This guy has to be one of the biggest Dirtbags I have come across.

From what I gather, we have over $10,000 in theft and 5 different states. You guys should call the MI attorney general.

Now i'm curious. Has anybody pulled the heads off one of the motors he's actually sent out? I allegedly got an '06 vette motor with 11,000 miles, out of his personal vehicle...

I'm pretty sure this is the rear sump vette pan...?

Not quite, but not much better. We took it off the pallet and put it on the tire :-)

Can somebody also tell me if that crank sensor is definitely the grey one from the vette?

This is everything my "Complete LS2" came with:

Yeah, thats a Vette motor. The mounts and the pan are Vette. Well...let me rephrase that....those are Vette mounts and a Vette pan. I'm not 100% the motor is a Vette motor

My motor cam shipped similar...on a pallet (loosely), and with a ratchet strap (tightened loosely), Did you get manifolds and an intake with yours?

Anything yet? I understand there is a large group of disgruntled users that are going to go after Craig with a "fraud across state lines" complaint. Using a Detroit Lawyer from what I hear as well. Hopefully this should shake up some results.
