Default which trans to use?

hey guys quick question i have a buddy that wants to put a 383 in his car but doesnt know which trans to put in cause he is gonna try for 500+ and all of this is going in a 3rd gen so if you guys can send any advice my way ill be sure to pass it on to him thanx!

what is he going to do with the car. track, auto-x, street?

both street and track, running 373 gears

i would say a t56 but im not sure whats involved in the sway. bell housing, shaft? idk someone here maybe has already done it.

yea we looked some of it up last night and the one site said we have to use a t56 out of a 97 cause it matches up better with the body or something like that but i thought 97's didnt have t56's idk my knowledge on 97's and lower arnt that good. but thanx for the input man, i appreciate it
