Starter problem.....stuck at school help!
Starter problem.....stuck at school help! Ok so the nightmare that has been my past week continues. My 99 z28 refused to start today. The car wouldnt even crank you would turn the key and nothing happened at all. So i figure bad starter right? I jacked the car up and had someone whack the starter while i cranked the key and it fired up. Whatever i go to advanced auto parts pick up a starter put it in and i turn the key and the gauges are dead no lights at all the radio is dead, but the interior lights , ext lights, power locks ect all work fine. Now bear in mind i disconnected the battery totally when i changed the starter to avoid any problems like the one im having. Please help guyss cuz im stuck at school and my car is gonna get towed if i cant figure this out

is your battery dead? just cause you have enough battery to light your lights, doesnt mean its enough to turn the engine over. when you turn the key if it goes "click" when you try to start it, its likely bad battery, or alternator, or both.
yeah, a dead battery would be my guess, but, if the car turned over before, that would rule that theory out...regardless, try and jump it. if that doesn't work, probably a dead alternator
ok is your car a 6 speed or auto if its a stick it could be your clutch switch going out and if so if you want to check go to kragen and get a bypass switch it hooks up to the selenoid of your starter and to a positive link on your battery hook it up and push the button (IF YOU DO DO THIS MAKE SURE YOUR CAR IS NOT IN GEAR IF ITS A STICK AND OR A PARK IF AUTO, CAR WILL JUMP FORWARD!!)
I'm betting Ignition Switch.. happened to me.. 
If you are going to go through all that, might as well get underneath where the Petals are, cut the Wires off of the N/S Switch and splice them together..

im placing my bet on the battery. i had a similar situation happen to me at school. unhook the battery and then reattach them....tightly! try resetting the pcm too.

Battery was dead, but still had acc power. Car would run once it was jumped, but couldnt be re-started after it was turned off. Got the battery charged at Autozone, all better.
Id have your battery tested and or charged. It takes a couple hours, but its free and they will tell you if its still good.
