Default need backup

i tried a search and couldnt really find what im looking for. i know the awsner but need people to back me up for proof. is it true that a corvette and a ls1 fbody make the same flywheel HP and have the exact same motor. and that sometimes a stock fbody will dyno over a corvette? and arent all cars rated by flywheel horsepower by the factory? thanks for your replys and can i someone state that fbody ls1's are factory underrated

It depends on what corvette engine you are talking about. The C5 corvette all have ls1 engines in them just like F-body's. A C5 Z06 have LS6 engines. The LS1 and LS6 are pretty much the same except for that the Ls6 block is designed a little better for oil liquidation, bigger MAF sensor, Ls6 has a Ls6 intake, more aggressive cam, etc.The LS6 engine does make more power though(400hp) for reasons listed above. Some ls1 f-bodies do carry the Ls6 intake though, I think it was on the 01-02's. GM rates the horsepower at the engine.I've never really heard anything of a F-body dynoing more than a C5 corvette but i guess it could be possible.

Common question, we've had a ton of threads about this over the years.

An LS1 is an LS1. C5s usually dyno a bit lower than an F-body (at the wheels) due to the IRS sapping power (independant rear suspension).

The C5 LS1 cam specs are a tad different, thus negating the need for EGR. You'll notice that the LS1 (not LS6) intakes on any C5 have no EGR provision. But this minor cam/intake difference isn't enough to make any significant power difference. C5 exhaust system is a bit better stock for stock.

Overall, rear-wheel power is pretty much indenticle between a C5 (non-ZO6) and an LS1 F-body.
