Default First time at the track....

I have a 2000 WS6 Convertible A4 with just a TSP lid and the stock Eagle F1 tires at normal pressure. I ran at Moroso in West Palm Beach, FL. Track temps were mid 80's at the time and humidity in the mid 80's as well.

1st run ever:
60' 2.138
1/8 8.849
mph 82.94
1/4 13.608
mph 104.20

2nd run ever:
60' 2.142
1/8 8.831
mph 83.07
1/4 13.589
mph 103.02

The rest of my runs all got slower as the night progressed and the mph dropped. I'm guessing this was due to the engine staying too hot as my 60' times were 2.125, 2.16 and 2.139. Not too bad for a stock 'vert!

So my question is....how do I lower my 60' times? I held the brake and rev'd to about 1,100...when the light changed I lifted the brake and floored the gas. Is this a good 60' time? The one time I rev'd higher...to 1,500 I spun all the way through 1st and 2nd...

I raced a 2003 M3 twice....wow....our first run we were dead even through the 1/8th...but he finished with a 13.115 @110.51.....damn quick for just a Borla exhaust and chip. Hopefully next time I see him....I'll have a few more mods!

I ran about the same thing you did stock so you're in the ballpark. I think your launching technique needs some work. With stock tires and the stock converter, I would not suggest trying to stall the 'verter at all. I found it best to go off idle and count "one-one thousand" while depressing the gas pedal. You should be at WOT by the time you finish saying one one-thousand. Before you launch, you should give the car enough gas (while on the brake) to tighten up the drivetrain. Drop your F1's to 24psi in the rear and pump them up to 40psi up front. That should be good for 1.9x-2.0x 60'. You're not going to do much better than that without drag radials. Make sure you "two foot" the pedals...left on the brake & right on the gas.

Good luck!

I've always heard F1's are good for a 1.9 60'. Your traps look comparable to other F-bodies I've seen in high humidity. From what I've heard you can only compare your specific car + mods to how other cars like yours are running that time in your area due to weather conditions.

All I know is I made my FIRST 40 passes this year. The last 10 or so were on drag radials, while the rest were on the stock F-1s. My best time is on my sig, now I'm trying not to bog the car... I started at 3000RPM and keep moving up - there is a fine line between bogging and spinning - but even spinning with the DR's is better than bogging it out.

So you got a 2.14 on DRs?

Wow...if so...then the A4 on stock F1's does launch pretty darn well if my first time out there I'm getting 2.1x on 5 out of 6 runs with fully inflated tires. (2.138, 2.142, 2.125, 2.160, 2.139....I had a 2.417 when I spun 1st and 2nd)
