Rev Limiter
What is meant by 'hitting the rev limiter' ?
I have a 2002 WS6 Auto 4. The reason I ask is that sometimes I will reach the passing lane, say 50-60 miles per hour, and put the pedal to the floor and the car does what it should: down-shifts and goes like a raped ape.
But occasionally, I will put it to the floor and it is like the computer shuts off the gas/power for a minute and then it gradually comes back to full throttle.
I over maintain my car, so we aren't talking about plugged fuel filters, etc.
What is shutting off my power when I floor it at highway speed? It is kind of random but I want to know what you think.
Is this the 'rev limiter' or WTF?
It sounds like an electrical malfunction causing your problem. Could be something in the transmission not allowing it to downshift, or you could also look at a possible intermittent throttle position sensor malfunction.

Rarely happens, and only when I go to the floor.
Try manually downshifting to 3rd then stand on it and see if it does the same thing. You can see alot of info with a tech II at a gm dealership. Ususally $45 for a half our of diagnosing.
