Default Whats Wrong!

I am hearing everybody getting 25-29 mpg with Their M6's. Most of these people have 3.73 up to 4.30 gears and still getting that mpg. I have a 1998 stock Z28 with the M6. It's got 2.73 in the rear and I get **** for mpg. I picked up the car 2 weeks ago. It is my first ls1. I should be getting damn good mpg with the M6 and 2.73's. What the hell is going on? Someone tell me.

If you have an M6 did someone change the gears out? No m6 came with 2.73 gears. Check plugs, wires, 02's, filter,
and sea foam (<--Maybe)

You don't have 2.73s first off, and 2nd off I usually get 16-20mpg around city and about 25-28mpg on highway driving normally and just cruising. You should change the spark plugs and wires and do a oil change. See if your fuel filter is alright and all that good stuff also. After that you should notice a increase to where it should be.

Well I had a post on here when I first bought this. The seller said he put 2.73's in and the speedometer is off by at lest 15. I know the M6's came with 3.42. I am going to do plugs and wires and oil change soon. I just looked in the gear section of this website and saw those people posting what they get with those gears. The car only has 113,500 miles on it.

If the speedometer is off then the odometer is also off, I would think, so you can't ever get a valid mileage check by using it. I've got an M6 with 3.42 and have seen 29 on the highway driving nice and 27 with the top down!

Ouch, what a boner. . . A 2.73 swap. . . .

Get the speedometer calibrated to the gears - - - Or get rid of gears.

I would think hard on that because with the new Administration thats in charge, gas will probably return to 4.00 a gallon if not more!

Ya, I forgot to think of that. So I'm probably getting better mpg's then I think. I am still going to change plugs, wires, and all fluids. Thanks guys

If it really does have 2.73's you are getting much better mileage than your odometer is reading. You should be getting some crazy mileage with 2.73's on a six speed... very odd swap though.

Dude, if you had 2.73s YOU WOULD NOTICE IT. Its very obvious if you had those gears. You most likely have something messed up but still have normal 3.42s

He said he checked his speedometer against a GPS in his other thread and it was reading quite a bit slower and this would indicate higher gears like 2.73s, strange as that may be. And yeah, his odometer would be reading a lot less miles too. Almost 30% less if I figured it correctly.... (2.73/3.42 = ~30%)

So what kind of mileage are you getting when you add 30% more miles to a tank?
