Default Foam on bottom of ls6 intake?

Is the foam needed that goes on the bottom of the LS6 intake? I just put new gaskets on the intake and the kit was missing the foam, and I threw the old foam away. Do I need this?

It is indeed needed! I know so many people that removed the foam and then had to chase knock sensor codes forever, until they re-installed the foam. Good luck.

pick up a strip of 1/4in window weatherstripping and seal off the front and back gap's at the intake and valley cover.

when i swapped my intake, i was astonished how much dirt got under there; i had to use a vacuum to remove all that crap

experienced exactly this with a buddys car. go to your local fabric store and get a little bit of 1/2 to 3/4 thick foam. it will only be a couple bucks. it will work great.
