Default Any reason not to do solid mounts??

Other than the trans and motor not tilting back to access the top bolts to remove the trans, and all the added vibration? Can these in anyway harm the frame or motor or anything I am not thinking of?

You'll get a lot more rattling throughout the car.

This car isnt a daily driver, gets drove maybe once a week. And everything on it is setup for the track. I havent even considered prices, so no, I am not being a cheap ***. And why is it stupid to put solids in? I knew the instant I posted this here I should have posted it in the drag racing tech section section to avoid smartasses

I have solids and would not go back. They tightened up the feel of the car. I love mine.

Yeah I have heard all the "its gonna rattle" arguments. I am looking for any OTHER drawbacks from doing solids, other than me evidently being a cheap *** cause I wont get the polys. I am wanting to hear something like "solids caused my car or motor to do this...." kinda stuff. I could really care less about vibrations and rattles. Hell, to me the more I feel the motor the better

yep, if you don't want it to feel like a race car, don't get solids.

Its stupid b/c its not a 100% race car.

It might not rattle when you do it...it might not rattle in a week but I bet it WILL start not too long after its done and youve raced it some.

And also if I was looking at buying a car and it had solid mounts I'd walk away right there, personally.

Walk away why? Do they hurt anything?

Any car with solid motor/tranny mounts will provide more 'feedback' into the cockpit, in the form of shakes, rattles, vibrations, and road noise. As far as why he would say that he would 'walk away' from a car like this, he is probably just assuming that solid mounts=race car and a car that is beat to hell.

I personally love solid mounts on a car that is not just a daily driver, but the least bit fun to drive. Get them and enjoy them!

Thats pretty much what I am thinking, just his opinion. No facts about harm to any part of the motor or frame(which is what I am looking for), only "its stupid" if its not a race car.

The car isnt a DD, and sees a fair amount of track time. Personally, the more I can "feel" the motor and everything on the car the more I like it, but thats really more of a personal preference. So I guess no one can come up with any real world harm to the vehicle or motor? Which is what I have been asking for all along

If it does not harm anything that will be one of the first things I do. If you get the flex out of the motor the straighter and faster you go down the track. And no I never plan to sell my car so I don't care, and even if I do it will prolly be to a friend that knows how well I take care of my cars.

Yeah its what I want, but not if it will physically hurt anything. The louder, shakier, and more obnoxious this car is to drive the more I want it.

I agree, mine won't be a daily driver so this along with the starter suspension mods and full exhaust w/bolt-on's should be good. Then later heads/cam package and some interior mods such as cage and gauges should get everything started.
