Default what to do with engine

Ok so I am cleaning up my 1998 camaro z28 ls1 six speed. I am going to completely "overhaul" it. I have roughly $10,000 to spend on performance upgrades after paint and changing interior. where should i start? what should i do? yes I have money to spend, but of course the less I spend, is in fact better!

I'd say if you've got $10,000 you should stroke it out to a 396 or a 402, put a good set of heads and a custom cam in it. Put the rest of the money into drivetrain and suspension.

You're going to have to give us more information than that. For $10,000 you could almost do whatever you wanted.

^Yea, I agree.

So after body work and interior stuff you have 10k to blow??

Ok then, what has been done to the car, what transmission?? Also has there been any general matience such as brakes and other wearable parts such as coolant system..... also what is the Milage.

One thing that sucks is the 98 is a Pain in the *** when it comes to tuning, speak to any tuner out there and they are not quite as good as 99+ cars.

Have you already invested the money into the car???

Personally, this is what I would do.....
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rear- 12 Bolt/9" rear (gear it to your choice, Posi) Thats 2300-3000$ (including driveshaft)

Drivetrain- Overhaul the transmission (1500-2k) depending if auto or m6, and w/ the auto you would be getting a new stall and m6 would have a new clutch kit and upgraded hyd.

Suspension- Do the basics such as SFC's, Rear LCA, TQ arm, and Adj shocks ($$$ permitting)

Engine- Pull it out, look for something newer, 4.000" bore, do at LEAST a 383, if not 402 is a mighty fine choice, balanced rotating assembly, a good set of heads/cam, Fast 90/90 set up that is matched to heads, headers and exhuast if your choice and the standard Lid. Add a Nitrous kit if you have a little $$$ left over. Of course, Dynotune it.

Thats my opinion, that you build a car from back to front. I haven't even gotten into rim/tire package and your decision on whether this car is for street/strip, or strip only.

10k is not alot, and to put it only in the motor is doing it, and you a dis-service.

What mods do you currently have on the car? Depending on what you end up doing, you might have to purchase some bolt-on mods to support your new found HP!

** Note, I see that it is a 6 speed. Which is good, but still going to spend money on a clutch kit and like said, bolt ons are a must to support bigger cubic inches.
