o2 question From what i have read the front o2 sensors control part throttle and idle and the mass air controls wot. If the o2's fail they will send the car into limp mode. Now will that make it run different in all throttle positions including partial and wot? Thanks for any and all input.
Limp mode makes it run 'different' across the board. Since its not getting a proper voltage reading from the O2 and doesnt know the correct amount of fuel/air to add. Its rare for an O2 to completely die (most people notice it pretty early on) They become 'slow' meaning they dont react to change quickly. If you have ever watched them on HPtuners or the like you will see they are making calculations in milisecond, when they get slow it doesnt fluctuate fast enough so you end up rich down low and lean up high. Which can cause a multitude of other problems.
Seeing this the computer puts the car in a lower octane table so it doesnt hurt the car as much. It would be similar to using 85 instead of 91. It runs the car in a safer mode (less hp across the board, espeically under WOT) to help prevent damage.
