Do i NEED o2 simms?

Do i NEED o2 simms? just bought an off road y pipe...do i have to have 02 simms? I know the ses light will come on (just as my old moostang did) but does it hurt performance if i dont use these? reason i ask is in about a month i will be getting the car tuned for nitrous and n/a and i've heard that you dont need simms if you get the car tuned...is that right?
just in need of some information...someone learn me something dammit!

will running without sims cause problems eventually? Im looking at 2-4 weeks before the tune, just depends on how busy the shop is. cause otherwise for the time being im just gonan take the damn bulb out anyways lol

The rear O2's don't affect performance. They basically reassure the PCM that cats are working and its getting the right readings. If you'll be getting tuned soon I wouldn't worry about it. Just have them delete the rear O2's from the PCM.
