Default Lacking Power

I have 2000 Z28 and I had starting trouble with it, a hesitation in acceleration at about 2400 rpms, and an overall feel of little power. I just changed the fuel pump with a Walbro GSS340 and my staring trouble went away, but the hesitation I experienced before is still there. I will accelerate and the car will go until it gets to around 2400rpms everytime in every gear and kind of die down then pick back up againaround 2700rpms. I also just changed the fuel filter. My car only has 32000 miles on it and the only mods that are done are a SLP intake and exhaust. Anybody have any idea what it could be?

Does the car ping or detonate under acceleration? Is the engine making any rattle or ticking noises?

Automatic or 6-speed?

I'd look around for an intake leak, or perhaps your O2 sensors are fouled. Also, check your battery connection, sometimes a loose connection will do that pause thing.

Maybe a vacum leak, sounds like some of the symptoms. Good Luck

The car has a 6 speed transmission. I don't hear any unusual noises coming from the engine. I did although have a service engine light come on. I had it checked and it said my O2 sensors after the cats were bad, but I ignored it because the light doesn't stay on. It goes away and only comes on when I drive the car hard for a while. Could this be problem?

O2 sensors can really cause drivability problems or increased fuel consumption if they are fouled. Just because the SES light went off, it doesn't mean the issue is resolved. The computer will actually store SES codes until the item(s) are fixed, or they pass diagnostic tests which are run by the computer.

I'd start with finding someone local with AutoTap that can see if your car still has any SES codes stored. That will tell you alot, and give you a direction to work in.

If you have bad O2 sensors, replace them.

How can the O2 sensors go bad already, the car only has 32000 miles on it?
