Is the camaro/firebird considered a roadster? I say yes my friend says no. It's kind of like one.

I say no. Roadsters to me are cars that never had provisions for a rear seat. F-Bodies have rear seats, whether they were removed or not.

To me some modern day roadsters:
Corvette
Viper
Ford GT
S2000
Miata
ect...

Of course not every car is in the same category.

Classic roadsters would be stuff like the 32 Ford and stuff like that, of course I think some of those had that flip up rear seat in the trunk area.

This is just my opinion on it.

Since a roadster, by definition, is a convertible or open topped car with either a trunk or a rumble seat and NO backseat, you are incorrect in your assertion.

No sir.

I usually think of a roadster as a Miata, Z3/Z4, etc.

I guess a Lotus Elise would be classified as a roadster..that little thing zipped for what it was..I still felt a little flamboiant though..

Maybe the V6 cars.

The 4th gen V8 F-body is a 2+2 coupe that was fitted with the largest passenger car V8 offered by GM during that era. It was also the only 4-seat RWD/V8 coupe sold by GM in those years. Therefore, V8 4th gen = modern muscle car.

I see your point but I guess I am just stuck in the past. Here is the way I look at it....

When they came out in the 60's as GM's answer to the Mustangs they were all collectively refered to as Pony Cars. IMO once a Pony Car always a Pony Car.

Even back then the 396 and cars were known as Pony Cars so it didn't matter what the engine size was. The rare 427 cars skipped over the muscle car genre and were pretty much considered race cars...

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree It's all good but I think we both agree it daaayyyuuummm sho ain't no roadster

Big block convertible Corvette is a roadster by any definition.

And it's the opposite of gay.

u cant specifically classify cars like ours this day and age

people out there call them pony cars, muscle cars, sports cars etc.

example: there are people who think they are sports cars and not mucle or pony cars and vise versa

just something to blow time thinking about to hurt your head

I always understood that a roadster was an open top car. That even excludes the Miata, which would be a convertible.
