Default engine removal

Some girl here in Austin wrecked her LS1 TA.
She needs help removing the engine.

How do you remove the engine from a 01 TA?
Can you pull it out from the top with an engine hoist or do you have to drop it out thru bottom ?

DOH nevermind my Haynes manual shows how to do the traditional method of pulling the engine out the top with a hoist.

pat, you should talk to sam about this. what we plan to do with his is go up through the bottom. of course, his has the engine/tranny already bolted together, so coming from the top would be damn near impossible.

if you unbolt all of the chasis, and pull everything out in one piece, i think the bottom would be much simpler.

The only issue with that is the car has to be pretty high for the engine to clear but I hear ya.

I guess I was wondering if anyone on here has ever gone thru the top.

I couldn't tell you exactly how, but everyone I know has pulled it from the bottom by dropping the k-member. I've heard it can be pulled in under an hour that way.
