done a decent amount to my car but one thing i havnt touched yet is the intake setup, stock ls1 with plug in the EGR hole and stock untouched TB, do u guys feel its worth about $1500 for the 102mm FAST intake/TB setup? and does any one still sell the 90mm or 92 mm intake/TBs if there cheaper?
and is the ls6 intake much diff from my ls1 with plugged EGR hole?

I was wondering the same thing on the ls1 vs ls6.. I was reading on here that a polished/ported stock TB will give the same gains more or less of a lid 5-10 hp.. I'm gunna have to look that one up

Ls6 is worth it for the price ($300) imo for around 15hp. And no i havent seen any car pick up 10hp from a stock ported tb unless you talking LID and Ported TB 10hp increase. As for fast 90, they have droped in price since the 102, I have had a few priced to me for around $500-$650 used

i noticed an increase with my ls6/ported tb.....i did it all at the same time and it really added a good bit of pull in the upper rpm's....i think a fast 90 is supposed to add 10-20+hp over ls6 int......don't know what your goals for the car are but i would go ls6 int, port stock tb or p&p 85mm tb, then throw the extra $$$ towards a cam

Over a LS1 there will certainly be a GOOD gain. Hell WHEN I did my LS6 to 90/90 swap, the buddy I sold my LS6 to had a 99 C5 vetter with a MS3 can and he gained something like 30-40 horse. Prev dyno'ed on the low side, showing how choked it was. He did have stock heads both ways.
2 Years later I needed some cash and I did not put in the donkey dick cam so for basically a LS6 intake and cash I went back and I have been happy ever since.
I got a check for 800 if I recall and a intake which we valued for about 300-325.

The LS6 intake comes on all 01-04 LS1/6 equipped vehicles(F-body, Vette, & GTO). It is definitely worth swapping an LS1 intake for the LS6, but if you can afford it a used FAST 90/92 setup would be better. The FAST 102 is good but on a bolt on only car likely will not outperform the FAST 90/92, so it's hard to justify the extra coin.

To be honest with u I had a ls6 then I had to swap back to my stock ls1 with egr and by goly I felt big difference between the ls6/ls1 ls1 seemed to pull way nicer but that's me and my cars only got long tubes and duals with a lid and it's a A4 so that could just my car

that quote i put was from Texas speed, i was including the gaskets and all and stuff and rounded to that, came out to like $1460 some thin, and i was always wondering if anyone prefered the ls1 intake over the ls6 cause i looked up dyno charts of LS1 intakes then swap for LS6's and they gain like 10rwhp top end but if u look from like 1k-4k it was way less lol

ight, ya wasnt sayin the ls1 over ls6 was fully true, cause obviously tons of people have and prefer them, just saw some dyno charts were the ls1 seemed higher in the lower range and not that much lower in the higher range, and ya if i touch that section i might just do the 102/102 combo and be done with it, especially now that i got a 2nd job with more hrs

If you're just wondering what the next best mod is for your car, then I'd go with a cam + LS6 intake + ported throttle body. You have the rear end to handle a good tire, so with those mods you should see a noticeable improvement at the track or on the streets.
If you're eventually going for a max effort type of setup where you squeeze every ounce of power out of that LS1, then I'd recommend doing the cam swap now and save up for a ported FAST intake to match to a nice set of heads. I went that route -- dynoed 390/388 with a very modest cam and bolt ons. Put down 440/408 after heads + ported FAST 92 -- with power throughout the entire band. Well worth the money in my opinion.
