New LS1 Owner!
Hey all,
Just wanted to introduce myself to what seems to be a great forum! About a month back I got in a minor motorcycle wreck and without the time to fix it, I needed a way to fulfill my adrenaline needs!
I decided to sell my truck and motorcycle to pursue a fast/fun and most importantly, AFFORDABLE car. After looking at all the fast cars within my budget, I decided that the LS1 was the fastest and most practical (compared to others) car I could buy.
Last weekend I went to look at my first camaro (as a buyer). The car was a 1998 Camaro Z28 in the beautiful Mystic Teal color. Turns out it was owned by car junkies its whole life and is in perfect condition! The paint doesn't even have a scratch on it
. I had to make a deal, and I'll be picking up my new Camaro this Saturday.
One question I have is about the heads that are on this Camaro. The owner said all he knew was that they were Lingenfelter Stage 2 ported heads. Now, I've done some research and found a few different heads made by Lingenfelter, most commonly the Edelbrock casting. I believe that my car though has the heads which you send to Lingenfelter and in return they'll send you a ported set. If anybody knows more info about these that would be great. Also, how much HP could one estimate with these heads, assuming the car only has lid and cat-back as supporting mods?
Sorry for the long introduction, pictures will be up soon!

Welcome both of you. Nods to start with are pretty simple. Search for "free mods" then lid/filter/ headers and exhaust is usually a good start. Rear end gears (3.73 for auto, 4.10 manual) is another great mod I heard that's fairly inexpensive.

Welcome. You can always pull casting numbers of heads to see what were used and I would Imagine call Lingenfelter and they could maybe look it up somehow.....? Free Mods are always a good start
Not very often that a car would just receive heads and not a cam. There should be casting #'s on the heads. Mite be worth a couple of pulls on the dyno with a wide band hooked up to make sure that the air/fuel is correct.
The heads and no cam is due to this being a California car. The reason I liked this car so much (besides its condition) is that the parts on it are all California legal and able to pass the visual test. I did not want to buy a car with LTs or catless pipes because I want my car to pass smog legally.
