Default please HELP with daily driver problems

help with my daily driver PLEASE
ok the car is a 1990 es250 lexus with 128 K miles, 5 speed.
the problem is that it needs to get cable jump for it to start, I already replaced the alternator and run the car for like 10 minutes then got back home and turned it off and try starting it again and it would not start. as if there is no battery...not even a click....I dont think its the started because when I start the car with the jumper it goes on the first try,

now the questions are this...
1- is there a possibility of a short somewhere in the iginition system from the battery?
2- what test can I do to further diagnose the problem and to pinpoint it.
There was an aftermarket sound system in the car before I got it and they left all the cables there.
you think this could be the problem of the car not starting....

input please asap.. I need to start driving this bad boy and putting the formula in the garage for some mods...

Have you at least went and got the battery looked at. Just because it starts with a little jump really doesn't rule the battery out. Maybe it won't hold a charge. But it sounds like you're off to a good start at sniffing out the problem anyway. I'd say, go ahead and take all that wiring out unless you're intending on using it yourself.

If the battery is dead you have to charge it.
The alternator is designed to maintain the charge of a fully charged battery.
It is not designed to charge a dead one, if you do you just stress your new alternator & overheat it for goin full bore/output to charge a dead battery.
This is something it is not designed to do.
So you'll have to start your testing w/a fully charged battery, ensure there is no draw on the battery (test w/ampmeter) & then check alternator output.

good point on the new battery comment. I will take the car to autozone for them to test the battery b/c i have no access to a voltmeter.
