Default How to identify a "SS"?

So i bought this car off my friend for a good price (even if its a Z28 ). And it dosent have an slp door sticker. It does however have a Gm ss hood and GM ss spoiler. Was the ss package ever offered as an apperance package? My seats also dont have SS stiched in them. I was wondering if it was able to be identified from a number or letter on the vin?

If its not a real ss im gonna go ahead and put some seats my brother had in his camaro in it the has z28 stitched in the head rest. And put some Z emblems on it. Thanks in advance guys!

If it came with no SLP options, it won't have an SLP door sticker.

There's no such thing as a GM SS hood or GM SS spoiler. Those items were made and put on by SLP.

The easiest way to verify whether or not it is an actual SS is to call SLP and give them the VIN. That is provided you don't have ANY original documentation, like the window sticker(s).

x2, call SLP and tell them your VIN.

Btw, nice upgrade on your new vehicle, Meents.

The RPO decal will have WU8 and Z28 if it is an SS. It will only have Z28 if it is a Z28.

That is also true, and will take less time to verify than it would calling SLP. WU8 was the SS RPO code.

Sorry I should have been more clear.

There is a decal on the inside of your drivers door that has a bunch of 3 digit number and letter codes. This decal is called the RPO decal. RPO means "regular production option". Go through the codes and look for WU8. If you have WU8 you have a real SS. If it isn't there then you have a Z28.

Thanks guys! As soon as I get in I'll check. Other then appearance is there anything special about an ss if it has no slp options?

An SS with no options is a Z28 with a fancy hood, fancy spoiler, a marginally better exhaust, and bigger tires/wheels.
