headers headers headers- HELP I am in need of assistance picking a set of headers. I have a 2000 ws6 ,m6,BBK intake w/ TB, 3" Borla exhaust, monster stage 3 clutch w/ billet lightwieght flywheel. My car has been lowered and has 20" wheels with nitto tires. I still want to keep my cats. I was looking into BBK but they only offer a 2.5" y pipe. I will obviously have clearance issues and am on a budget. The car will be getting TSP 2.5 ls6 heads with a big cam not yet picked out sometime during the summer. UDP and 85mm MAF will be added with the headers. I was looking into pacesetters ceramic headers but can't get enough info without calling them. I want to get the power gains while still leaving room for future builds. Any experience or advice will be a huge help.

All long tubes are gonna scrape if you have cats. Just learn to take the bumps better and you'll be fine. Pacesetters can have magnaflow cats welded in (I had it done) but you will still get an SES light. summitracing had the 3" slip fit magnaflow cats but I don't see them on there anymore. Pacesetters will lose all their ceramic coating if you live in an area with lots of salt and junk on the road. So a better choice would most likely be a stainless steel set with a higher price. Most of the headers are gonna give you about the same HP, and if you want the largest gains then get a tune after install.
I'm lowered two inches and the BBKs have better clearence than the stock exhaust did.
I'm extremely happy with how they installed (both sides went in from the top) and they look good IMHO even though they are chrome. For 355.00 shipped I'm not complaining.
Per BBK (I emailed) they gained 18HP during their testing which is inline with about what everyone else gets from headers. I don't have a catted y so I can't say if that is an issue at all or not.

I have to disagree. I am running ARH with their catted Y, I just lowered my car a week ago on stranos... I have yet to scrape. The lowest part of my exhaust is actually my cut-out... and not the cats/LT's. They tuck up nicely.

Their biggest downside is not being stainless and pacesetters Y kinda sucks. I hear good things about TSP's headers and they are priced nicely, check those out, use their matching y-pipe as well.

Just put a set of e bay stainless headers on a friends 00'and Z28 and they fit good for a cheap *** header and they look great. I have pace setter painted on my work car and they are fine as well with a 1.5" drop. My wifes car has ARH headers and catted Y pipe and they are of course, the best of the three that I have personal experience with but get ready to beat the hell out of your wallet. There is a set on here for sale used in the Texas classified section for close to new price but they have been on here for a while and he is to the point he is asking for any offers. I paid 550 for a set in great shape if that helps.
ARH and Kooks would be top choices if cost wasn't a factor.
TSP offers a quality product at a reasonable price. I'm a bit biased -- just ordered a set of stainless 1 7/8" headers and 3" ORY for my car to replace the Hookers that came on the car.

Thanks for all the info guys, and maybe girls. For some reason i thought i looked into tsp and i thought they were a grand or more. Some suggested BBK. I liked them but a 2.5" y-pipe kinda put me off a little considering i have a 3" borla exhaust. I still like the sound of QTPs quality and hp potential. I will look into tsp more.
