Ok, I'm hoping the pros here can clear up this FNG's question. I've had a couple of people tell me when ordering parts for my LQ4 that LS1 parts are directly interchangeable. I have little faith in these folks so, is an LQ4 the same as an LS1? Are the parts interchangeable? Thanks in advance! ![Hail](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_hail.gif)

As the 2 motors sit with no machine work you can swap...
Crank shaft, Cam shaft, Heads, Lifters/trays, timing chain, Oil pump, Push rods, Rocker Arms, Oil pan, Timing cover, Rear main cover, Rocker covers, Galley cover, Water pump. The 2 biggest things that are not interchangeable are the Rod, and Pistons.

Rods are interchangeable. As long as you don't get a rod from a newer engine with floating pins. Easily identified by the bronze bushing in the small end.
Also, cranks are interchangeable with 2 exceptions...
Balance will be different between any ls crank depending on the cubic inches.
And some early truck 6.0 cranks are longer on the rear flange making it only compatible with a 4l80e or older TH style trans.
The only bastard engine that really doesn't interchange with any other engine is the 4.8 and even then, the only thing that won't interchange is the crank and rods.
