headers or convertor
Do not go under 3500 stall though. for cheap insurance get a tranny cooler & a temp guage to see what's going on.
I have 10K on my Yank 3500 w/ no problems @ all.
On the other hand, i have had my headers on for approx 2 yrs with no problems.
Whatever makes you happy.
Jet-Hot LT's $512, Speed Inc True Duals $550. (installed headers myself) Doing it this way if you already have a cat back you can sell it and no need for Y-pipe. Total cost: ~$1,100
TCI SSF 3500, TCI trans pan, tranny cooler, basic tune, Trans Go shift kit, installation of all parts by prof speed shop (ls1 speed) will be ~$1,380.
If money is an option, do Headers first.
If money isn't an option, then do the Converter

My TCI 3500 stall costed me $400 from a friend, plus $400 for 3.73 gears, then close to $300 - $400 installation then $550 for the purchase of LS1 Edit and dyno tuning.
Total cost: $1750 for about .4 - .5 second increase in my times.
