That's one of the benefits of a A4. The stock 10 bolt will take alot more abuse than a 6 speed car's would. I have friends that are in the 10's running ET streets with a A4 and their 10 bolts are still holding on. The A4 loads the rear before the launch so the shock is minimal compared to doing a 5k sidestep with a T-56.

Another one for Converter..
Do not go under 3500 stall though. for cheap insurance get a tranny cooler & a temp guage to see what's going on.
I have 10K on my Yank 3500 w/ no problems @ all.
On the other hand, i have had my headers on for approx 2 yrs with no problems.
Whatever makes you happy.

blkZ28spt, has it backwards, allthought a tune will enhance the way your tranny behaves with a T/C, it is by no means necessary. However, if you do LT's it will most likely make your car run rich and eventually cause O2 problems if you do not get a tune. Not to mention, you will not see the true gains of headers with out getting your air/fuel ratios back in check. In addition you will need O2 extensions, O2 Simms for the rears if you want to run catless, etc.

TCI SSF 3500, TCI trans pan, tranny cooler, basic tune, Trans Go shift kit, installation of all parts by prof speed shop (ls1 speed) will be ~$1,380.

I disagree. Most people do not get a dyno tune after a header install but they do get shift points and torque management edited after a converter install. They wait until they get a cam to get a dynotune, usually. This is because a dynotune to fix your air/fuel ratio after a header install is a lot more expensive than a basic tune to optimize your shift points and tranny behavior. Also, if you did get a tune after a header install you would not need O2 sims because you could just delete the rear O2 codes with LS1 Edit. I have not heard of O2 problems if people get headers installed without a tune and run a little rich

Depending on your money situation.

If money is an option, do Headers first.

If money isn't an option, then do the Converter

My TCI 3500 stall costed me $400 from a friend, plus $400 for 3.73 gears, then close to $300 - $400 installation then $550 for the purchase of LS1 Edit and dyno tuning.

Total cost: $1750 for about .4 - .5 second increase in my times.
